Armory Art Center Chair of the Ceramics Department
The Armory Art Center has an opening for the Chair of the Ceramics Department, reporting directly to the Director of Education. An Artist who can teach, lead and inspire would be the ideal candidate. There is a state-of-the-art facility of (3500 square foot building with 2000 square foot kiln complex) dedicated to Ceramics and including an extensive range of equipment. In addition to adjunct teaching staff, there are Artists in Residence who teach and develop their own portfolios while supporting all activities of the Ceramics Department.
Six Sessions are held throughout the year with an average of 15 weekly classes per session – the existing facilities can accommodate more students and classes – this is an opportunity for an individual with practical ideas for major growth. The Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida is growing its student numbers and expanding its range of visual art classes for youth and adults. The candidate should have a strong desire to lead growth in quality, range of courses and student numbers.
The Chair of the Ceramics Department will supervise the staff, teach classes and have a studio to produce his/her own work. The position works closely with the Chair of the Sculpture Department to provide a cohesive program of 3D classes.
The position works under the Director of Education to develop a full range of ceramics classes, lectures and Community Outreach Programs. Active participation in the wider aspects of campus life at the Armory, including external events, exhibitions in the Armory galleries and marketing activities to support the Mission of the Armory is required.
