Paint In Ireland With Hugh O’neill

The Armory Art Center is taking reservations for the upcoming “Exploring the Irish Landscape” painting workshop in Ireland.  Armory instructor Hugh O’Neill will take guests through a custom designed artist’s excursion July 8 – 14, 2007.  The deadline to register is May 1.

An informational meeting will be held at the Armory Art Center on March 14th at 11:00 a.m. for anyone interested in signing up.  On April 4th at 11:00 a.m. another informational meeting will be held for registered participants and anyone still interested in signing up.

Participants will enjoy a week in the enchanting Irish countryside and western shoreline of County Clare.  Participants will paint, photograph, sketch and create in a landscape that is inspirational and exhilarating while visiting places of unparalleled scenic glory and ancient historic significance.

“I have hosted workshops in Ireland since 1998,” said O’Neill.  “The location is breathtaking and it is exciting to work with each painter as they develop during the workshop.  Each guest has a different experience yet we all experience the beauty of Ireland together.”

O'Neill will demonstrate his own painting skills every day on location. Many topics will be explored including: what makes a good or bad composition, quality of tone over quantity of color, why do some artists use a limited palette, loose brushwork techniques of painting water and the difference between impressionism and expressionism techniques. The workshop is designed for all skill levels, from the beginner to the very experienced.  Guests traveling with an artist but not taking the class will find plenty to do in Ireland from world class golf courses, outstanding fishing locales, grand historic sites and shopping.

Voted "Best Known Irish Artist" by Palm Beach Illustrated, O'Neill was featured in "The Top 100 Irish Americans" edition of the national magazine Irish America.  He was born in Ireland and lived there until 1993.  He has more than 25 years of outdoor painting experience.  Learn more about Hugh and his work at www.oneillgalleries.com.

Price are Painter: $2320*, Painter's Companion: $1220*, and Non-Painter: $1880*.  Prices include individualized instruction with Hugh O'Neill from July 9-13, six nights of lodging at the four-star Lahinch Golf and Leisure Hotel, full Irish breakfast, transportation to and from hotel to painting sites from July 9-13, and a special evening dinner reception at the conclusion of the workshop.  *Price subject to change due to market conditions until booking has been confirmed.
