2017 Armory Faculty Show and All Student Show Announces Student Winners

The Armory’s biggest exhibitions of the year, the 2017 Armory Faculty Show and the 2017 All Student Show opened on March 17, 2017. The All Student Show, juried by Nichole Hickey, showcased work from students who attended 4 to 8-week classes at The Armory during 2016-2017.

Liza Niles, Chief of Education and Exhibitions at the Armory Art Center said “The Armory’s annual All Student Show and Faculty Show are presenting work that represents the seven disciplines offered from a diverse student body and instructors. As a collective group they inspire and foster each student’s individual objectives towards their creative path. The Armory provides a gathering place for the artistic community to share and lend support to artists to be unique and creative.”

This year’s juror, Nichole Hickey, started her career in the arts in 2001 at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s Union Art Gallery. She moved to Florida in 2005 and worked as Assistant Director at Eaton Fine Art in downtown West Palm Beach for over six years. She currently manages the artist services department at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County in Lake Worth.

There were 13 winners, two from each discipline and one Best in Show. Best in Show was awarded to Bob Vail, Shadow PlanesRebecca Rosow, Red Sarong, was awarded 1st place in drawing and Ira Rubenstein, One Minute Figure Study, received 2nd place. Marie-Claude Desorey, Untitled, won 1st place in painting and Minoo Fuhr, Untitled, 2nd place. Isabella Fox, Twisted Love, was awarded 1st place in sculpture, 2nd place was given to Joyce Oppenheim, In a Hurry. Kirsty McKee, Flower Studs, received 1st place in jewelry and Kelley McKee, Silver Halo 2nd place. In glass, fiber, and printmaking 1st place was awarded to Hope Hoffman, Woman’s Head (print), and 2nd place to Sandra Kuba, Wool Painting (fiber). Elaine Siegel, February, won first place in ceramics and Roberta Levine, Pierced, won 2nd place.

The exhibition runs through April 14, 2017. Aficionados and supporters of the arts will want to attend these shows.
