Since childhood Mary Fisher has worked in media as diverse as photography, pencil, handmade papers, sculpture, constructed fabrics, and innovative stitching. Her art has introduced us to a soul that greets real life agony with quiet grace while gaining the respect of global textile design leaders including four friends whose work joins hers in this one-of-a-kind show: London’s Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn, and Americans Jane Dunnewold and Marsha Christo.
Together, these five artists explore the art of textile construction from five perspectives, each engaging the powers of color, shape, size, and texture to evoke a spiritual response ranging from worry to celebration.
