It is true that drawing strengthens the sculptor's eye and sculpting resolves the challenges of foreshortening for the 2D artist. In either discipline the artist embarks on a journey through the compelling landscape of the human figure and the energy of the body's gestures. Knowing where to draw the line, finding skeletal landmarks, shadow and light relationships, discovering emotions and deeper symbolism in the figure's posture are all part of this journey. Then feelings are awakened and perceptions open even wider. There will be always more to see.
Join us for Dialogues a series of student/faculty exhibitions that will begin this summer and continue throughout the fall. These interdisciplinary showings have been set up by the Armory Art Center's exhibitions program to emphasize the meaningful dialogue that exists between students and their instructors. Each exhibition is curated by two faculty members from two different departments and their students.
