For over 30 years NYC painter Charles Parness has been doing self-portraits exclusively, long before smart phones and the popularity of the selfie. On the surface his self-portraits appear to be in the tradition of Rembrandt that runs through many of the classic oeuvres, but on closer inspection they have a decidedly post-modern feel.
Charles Parness is also teaching a VMAW at the Armory from November 5-7, 2015
