Ricardo Morales-Hendry went to Pratt Institute in New York, where he obtained both BFA and MFA degrees. He was born in Cartagena, Colombia. As a child he traveled and lived in Canada and Scotland, finished high school in Bogota, followed by two years at the Naval Academy in Cartagena. He also lived in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and Britain. The year in Britain exposed him to the sporting art of 18th, 19th and 20th century masters which influenced him to begin painting animals and pets.
Moving to the United States in 2003 allowed Ricardo to try murals, trompe l'oeil, and faux finish. Ricardo enjoys painting all subjects including landscapes, which he paints from recollections. “I don't know where my work will take me but that is precisely what I enjoy. Letting each piece suggest unknown possibilities becomes an eternal quest for self-expression.”
