Grassy Waters Photography Contest Winners
to be Exhibited at the Armory Art Center
West Palm Beach, FL, April 1, 2019. For the first time, the Grassy Waters photography contest winners will have their work on view at the Armory Art Center. The opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The work will be exhibited from April 13 through 20, 2019.
The annual Grassy Waters photography contest is intended to showcase the natural environment in the West Palm Beach Preserve. Images reflect the preserve's diversity including landscapes, wildlife, animal behavior, plant life, water, weather, and the seasons. The Armory is partnering with Grassy Waters Conservancy and the City of West Palm Beach to support the Grassy Waters Preserve and photographers in the West Palm Beach community.
Raymond Gehman, National Geographic and fine arts photographer and nature and fine arts photography teacher, is this years’ judge of the Grassy Waters Preserve Nature Photography contest. Raymond worked as a photographer for National Geographic Society for 25 years. During his tenure he was awarded 3 National Geographic Magazine covers, was published in 7 National Geographic magazines, and in numerous National Geographic books and pamphlets and issues of National Geographic Traveler. Raymond’s fine arts and nature photographs have been exhibited in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, VA, Houston, Texas, Washington, D.C., and at a number of locations in our area. His was the first slide in the presentation “National Geographic Inaugural Celebration” requested by President Barack Obama. He was invited to participate in “America 24” the first all-digital documentation of America. He was one of three National Geographic photographers interviewed for and featured in “National Geographic’s Field Guide to Landscape Photography.”
